How to Achieve Glowing Skin This Winter

It can be tricky maintaining glowing skin this winter amidst the harsh weather conditions. However, with the right skincare routine and treatments, you can keep your skin looking radiant and feeling health even during these freezing months. Here are some tips that can be effective in maintaining a glow during the winter:

1. Drink plenty of water

It’s vital that you drink plenty of water in the winter to maintain your core body temperature and keep the body warm during the colder months. It also works by hydrating the skin, preventing it from drying out which can be a common problem during the winter. Drinking enough water balances your body’s pH levels, this causes less breakouts and irritations on the skin. Hydration is key in stimulating your skin’s natural elasticity levels which reduces signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and sagging.

It’s recommended that you drink between 6-8 glasses of fluids a day depending on your lifestyle. If you are an individual who exercises and is sweating more, then you may need to drink more.

2. Use a gentle cleanser

Your skin creates its own natural moisturising substances, also known as sebum. This is ideal in creating glowy, healthy looking and feeling skin. If a cleanser is used with harsh ingredients, it can strip sebum from the skin, leading to dry skin and potential damage to the skin barrier. In the winter, opt for a gentle cleanser with moisturising elements such as vitamin E and ceramides. Gentle cleansers can also aid in soothing the skin and replenishing the skin barrier to make it stronger.

3. Moisturise

Moisturising everyday, at least once a day, can aid in strengthening the skin barrier to reduce the effect of environmental changes and weather on your skin. In the winter, it’s no denying that the skin in areas like your face becomes much drier and dull, but using a rich and nursing moisturiser can treat these issues. To further benefit your skin, using a moisturising that contains vitamins like E, C or D and ceramides can help you achieve a winter glow.

4) Apply SPF

Even if it isn’t sunny outside, you should be applying SPF as part of your skincare routine. UV rays from the sun can still damage your skin, even if the sun isn’t visible and the weather is colder. If your skin is damaged from the sun, it can cause dry, dehydrated and dull appearing skin. To prevent this, incorporate an SPF with minimum factor of 30. If it is sunnier on days you are planning to leave the house, you should reapply SPF every few hours.

5) Face masks

f you’re looking for an instant boost of hydration to result in glowing appearing skin, a face mask is the best option for you. At Refine Pharma, a customer favourite is the Jalupro face masks.
