Hybrid Dermal Filler: What is HArmonyCa Filler?

By September 1, 2023No Comments

What is HArmonyCa Dermal Filler?

HArmonyCa is a hybrid dermal filler, which means it has two main components. It combines hyaluronic acid (HA) with Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA), which is how it gets its name. It is designed to augment, tighten, and lift the skin. It also encourages the continuous production of new collagen overtime. It is injected into the deep dermal and sub-dermal layers in the mid to lower half of the sides of the face.

Who is HArmonyCa filler for?

HArmonyCa is recommended for ageing skin, with considerable wrinkles and/or sagging in the mid to lower part of the face. It is intended for facial soft tissue augmentation.

How does HArmonyCa work?

HArmonyCa is injected into the sub-dermal layers and combats common symptoms of facial ageing, such as loss of volume and poor soft-tissue structural support. This is due to the combination of hyaluronic acid and Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA). CaHA works deep within the dermis to form a scaffold for internal growth of fibroblasts, which provides long-lasting collagen simulation.

What is the difference between HArmonyCa and Juvederm Filler?

HArmonyCa is another filler from Allergan, like the Juvéderm range. HArmonyCa combines the benefits of traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, such as the Juvederm range, with CaHA spheres. This results in an immediate lift, as well as long term lifting and rejuvenation through collagen synthesis.

Therefore, unlike regular HA fillers, it will provide a sustained lifting effect from the new collagen that is produced as a result of the CaHA. Also, the results of HArmonyCa will last longer than Juvederm products.

Collagen is a type of protein that our body produces, to help maintain the structure of our skin, muscles, bones, and joints. However, as we age, our body produces less of it. Therefore, taking a collagen supplement, or getting a source of collagen, has many benefits for the skin.

Another difference between HArmonyCa and Juvederm is the due to the placement of the procedure, it doesn’t have most of the possible complications of soft tissue filler, such as vascular occlusion.

Immediate HArmonyCa Results

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment involves 2 syringes of HArmonyCa, or 1 syringe containing 1.25ml, on both sides of the lower face. This can be separated into 2 to 3 injection points per side. The treatment can take around 20 to 30 minutes. A cannula is used as opposed to needles, as this is safer than having several needle pricks.

Prior to the treatment, the injection site will be cleansed and marked. HArmonyCa is administered superficially into the skin, so numbing cream isn’t required.

The results should last for 18 to 36 months before treatment is required again. Unlike other fillers, you will see a continuous improvement in the overall quality and appearance of the skin, as a result of new collagen production.

What are the risks and side effects of the treatment?

HArmonyCa is a safe and minimally invasive procedure and there is minimal discomfort. HArmonyCa also includes Lidocaine, which helps to make the procedure more comfortable by numbing the treatment area. However, you may experience some side effects at the injection site, these include:

  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Tenderness
  • Itching

Medical practitioners should go through the full list of side effects with their client before treatment.
